dr Sylwia Borowska-Kazimiruk

Literaturoznawczyni, filmoznawczyni. W swoich badaniach zajmuje się historią drugiej połowy XIX i pierwszych dekad XX wieku w ujęciu interdyscyplinarnym, na przecięciu kultury wizualnej, historii i teorii literatury, historii idei oraz historii nauki. Za swoją pracę magisterską Teoretyk kina – obserwator nowoczesności. „Dziesiąta Muza” Karola Irzykowskiego, obronioną na Wydziale Polonistyki UW, otrzymała pierwszą nagrodę w konkursie im. Profesor Eweliny Nurczyńskiej-Fidelskiej na najlepszą pracę magisterską z zakresu kina polskiego i edukacji audiowizualnej, organizowanego przez Stowarzyszenie Edukacyjno-Kulturalne „Venae Artis” oraz Katedrę Mediów i Kultury Audiowizualnej Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego (2016).

Kierowniczka indywidualnego projektu badawczego Modernizacje widzenia. Proza polskiego modernizmu wobec nowoczesnych przekształceń dyskursu wizualnego (1890-1939) (PRELUDIUM NCN), w ramach którego bada migracje teorii widzenia do polskich środowisk inteligenckich oraz ich wpływ na rozwój poetyki powieściowej pierwszych dekad XX wieku. Pokłosiem tego projektu była rozprawa doktorska, poświęcona Wacławowi Berentowi oraz Władysławowi Heinrichowi, polskiemu pionierowi psychologii naocznej percepcji, którą obroniła w 2023 roku. Stypendystka Polish Program na Uniwersytecie w Toronto, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures (2022). Wyróżniona za teksty krytycznofilmowe w VI edycji konkursu Filmwebu „Powiększenie”, a także XXIII i XXIV edycji konkursu im. Krzysztofa Mętraka na najlepsze teksty krytycznofilmowe. Współpracowała z HBO Polska jako recenzentka projektów filmowych oraz serialowych.

Literary and film scholar. Her research focuses on the history of the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century from the interdisciplinary perspective of visual culture, literary history and theory, history of ideas and history of science. For her MA thesis "The Theorist of Cinema - Observer of Modernity. ‘Dziesiąta Muza’ by Karol Irzykowski", defended at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw, she was awarded first prize in the Professor Ewelina Nurczyńska-Fidelska competition for the best Master's Thesis on Polish Cinema and Audiovisual Education, organised by the Educational and Cultural Association “Venae Artis” and the Department of Media and Audiovisual Culture of the University of Łódź (2016).

Head of the individual research project "The Modernization of Vision. The Prose of Polish Modernism in the Face of Modern Transformations of Visual Discourse (1890-1939)" (PRELUDIUM grant, awarded by the National Science Centre), which investigates the migration of theories of vision into Polish intellectual circles and their influence on the development of novel poetics of the first decades of the 20th century. The aftermath of this project was a doctoral dissertation, dedicated to Wacław Berent and Władysław Heinrich, a Polish pioneer of the psychology of eye perception, which she defended at the University of Warsaw in 2023. Fellow of the Polish Program at the University of Toronto, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures (2022). Awarded in the 6th edition of Filmweb's Powiększenie’ Competition, as well as the 23rd and 24th editions of the Krzysztof Mętrak Competition for the best essay on film. She has cooperated with HBO Poland as a reviewer of film and series projects.
